Botox is a purified medicine made from the neurotoxin produced by the Clostridium bacterium. Wrinkles are formed by the continuous and excessive contraction of facial muscles. Injecting Botox into such muscles inhibits the secretion of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that induces muscle contraction, temporarily paralyzing the muscles and relaxing wrinkles.
